As a busy mom, I KNOW it can be challenging to find time for everything on your to-do list. Between work, household chores, and taking care of your family, it can feel like there are never enough hours in the day. HOWEVER, by using some time-saving hacks and incorporating digital tools and mindfulness techniques that I’ve learned over the past few years, you can make the most of your time and get things done efficiently. Here are 5 of my best time-saving hacks for us busy moms:
Here are my best organization tips for a busy mom
1. Prioritize your tasks using goal setting
This is probably the most important things you can do! One of the best ways to save time as a busy mom is to prioritize your tasks and getting you day in order. By setting clear goals, you can determine what tasks are essential and what can wait (or be forgotten lol). Make a list of the most important tasks you need to complete each day, and rank them in order of importance. This way, you can focus on completing the most crucial tasks first and then move on to the less critical ones. You, your kids and your significant other will appreciate this tip.
2. Use digital tools for automation and delegation
There are many digital tools available that can help you automate and delegate tasks, freeing up your time for other things. For example, I live by a scheduling software to schedule appointments and meetings, and I use apps to manage my to-do list from tip #1. As you grow in getting organized, you’ll learn to also delegate tasks to family members or hire a virtual assistant to help with tasks like scheduling house cleanings, grocery shopping, or normal day-today errands.
3. Practice mindfulness techniques to reduce stress
As a busy mom, stress is almost a mandatory part of my daily life. I used to just break down for a minute or 2, and then jump right back into the swing of things like this was a normal part of my day. However, by practicing a couple of mindfulness techniques, I drastically reduced my overall stress and improved my personal well-being. Take a few minutes each day to practice deep breathing exercises or meditation. You can also practice mindfulness while completing everyday tasks, such as washing dishes or folding laundry with music or an audible book that you enjoy listening to. By focusing on the present moment and being fully present, you can reduce stress and increase productivity.
4. Use minimalism to simplify your life
Minimalism is a lifestyle that involves simplifying your life by reducing clutter and excess possessions.(Us horders have a super hard time with this!) By adopting a minimalist mindset and clearing unnecessary crap out of your home/life, you can save time by having fewer things to clean and maintain. Fewer things on your to-do list will minimize the feeling of “OMG, I have so much to do today!) Start by decluttering your home and getting rid of things you no longer need. Ask a friend or your S.O. to be a part of this process so that they can give you an outside perspective of what you “need” and “want”. (I mean obviously I need to keep my 8th grade volleyball equipment, but maybe my S.O. can help me see a different perspective) I also simplify my daily routine by creating a capsule wardrobe and meal planning for the week. I’ll dive into these a little more later. wink*
5. Time block your day for maximum efficiency
Time blocking is a technique that involves breaking your day into small chunks of time and assigning specific tasks to each block. It is basically taking tip #1, and putting into an actual time sensitive play. By time blocking, you can ensure that you are using your time efficiently and focusing on one task at a time. But, when doing this, make sure you leave time for those unexpected times. (I call them the WTF interruptions). This would usually be caused by one of my lovely children that were put on this earth to test my very being lol. Make a schedule for each day, and include blocks of time for work, household chores, and time with your family, stress reduction, fitness and anything else that you value and is a part of your everyday!
So as you already know, it’s essential for us busy moms to find ways to save time and be more efficient. We have to keep going everyday anyways, so why not set yourself up for success? By using these time-saving hacks, incorporating digital tools and mindfulness techniques, you can maximize your time and achieve your goals while raising well rounded children. Remember to prioritize your tasks, automate and delegate, practice mindfulness, simplify your life, and time block your day for maximum efficiency. With these tips, you can make the most of your time and enjoy a more fulfilling life.
Much Love, Kenice
